Hiring on judgment

Hire people who can actually do the job.

Vero helps employers see what résumés miss: how a person makes decisions under real conditions. We turn your open role into evidence-based matching, so you interview candidates for the judgment the work actually requires.

Why Vero exists

Work has moved from a task-based economy to a judgment-based one. Hiring has not caught up.

For decades, people were hired for what they knew and the tasks they could complete. That work is being automated and reorganized faster than any curriculum can follow. What is left — and what actually decides whether a person succeeds — is judgment under real conditions: what they notice, what they protect when priorities collide, and how they adapt when the plan breaks.

Our vision is a labor market where people are hired for the capability they have already demonstrated in real life, not the pedigree they happened to acquire. That opens doors for talent that traditional screening never sees, and it gives employers a far more honest picture of who will perform.

Not theory

We do not test what someone knows about good decisions. We look at decisions they have actually made and what those decisions reveal.

Not personality

No traits, no types, no adjectives. Capability shows up in behavior under pressure, and that is what we measure.

Not another course

Training changes what people can recite. Evidence changes who gets hired. We work on the second one.

Start with evidence

See what a decision-based hiring report looks like for one of your roles

We partner with colleges, workforce boards, and youth organizations to introduce employers to candidates who are assessed on what they can actually do. The first step is a free decision report for one open role — no commitment beyond a short working session.

Free decision report

Bring us one open role and we will produce a hiring-manager report on a candidate for it, at no cost. It is the fastest way to see what capability evidence looks like next to a résumé.

  • · What the role actually demands, in plain language
  • · How the person has handled real situations before
  • · Where they are strong, and where you should probe
  • · Interview questions written for that specific person
  • · A clear read on fit — you still make the call

What happens next

After the free report, you can expand to additional roles or deepen the calibration against your top performers and outcomes. We offer three service levels so the strength of the claim always matches the strength of your data.

  • · Role Insight — one role, evidence-based matching
  • · Role Calibration — calibrated to your incumbents and outcomes
  • · Enterprise Decision Accuracy — repeated cycles across locations

How it works

Four steps to better hiring decisions

01

Share the role

You tell us what the job actually requires. A short working session translates it into the decision patterns that predict strong performance.

02

Define strong performance

We agree what success looks like in your environment, including the judgment calls a person will face in the first 90 days.

03

Calibrate to evidence

When appropriate, current employees complete the Lived Experience Assessment so the signal is grounded in your actual environment.

04

Meet candidates

Candidates complete the assessment and you receive a hiring-manager report with evidence, fit, and interview guidance. The hiring decision stays with you.

The science behind Vero

The capabilities that predict performance are already known. We make them visible.

Vero's taxonomy comes from 15+ years and 100,000+ workforce outcomes: 97% of work can be represented through 12 human capabilities. Tested across 10 industries and thousands of roles, then calibrated to each specific role and the evidence candidates bring, it surfaces decision patterns that credentials alone often miss.

In practice that means a role is translated into the decisions it really demands, candidates respond to real scenarios in a Lived Experience Assessment, and the hiring manager receives a report showing decision identity, decision accuracy, predicted role fit, and the questions worth asking in the interview. The hiring decision always stays with the employer. Job titles and tasks keep changing; the decision patterns behind strong performance have stayed remarkably stable.
